This article from the Daily Sun should prompt everyone in Arizona to write at least an email to the Governor and DPS.  Tell ‘em THANKS!

New DPS director critical of speed cameras

The new head of the state police force wants changes to speed cameras along interstates.

Department of Public Safety Director Robert Halliday said the system should be restructured if it’s not scrapped.

Halliday said he prefers more officers on Arizona highways.

According to Halliday, restructuring would include reassessing where photo snapping units are placed and installing penalties to keep drivers from ignoring photo-enforcement notices when they arrive in the mail.

Gov. Jan Brewer has indicated she is willing to let the contract with photo enforcement provider Redflex Traffic Systems expire in July, then allow voters to decide the program’s future.
