My father, Robert Boatman, was a tireless supporter of The Second Amendment. What that really means is that he was a supporter of everyone involved in the cause. You may be familiar with his books, his articles, his inspiration of Tim Schmidt and his videos on YouTube, but there are countless shooters who were mentored by him and have gone on to be important voices for the cause.
Mark Walters, The Ordinary Guy columnist for USCCA magazine has a new book out and a nationwide radio show, Armed America Radio. Check out Lessons from Armed America here. On his blog, this is what Mark had to say about my father:
I’m not sure how many of you have heard this news but Robert Boatman, the author of so many fine gun articles and books recently passed away at his home in Idaho a few weeks ago. Bob was one of my favorite gun writers and told it like it is…not like you might like it to be. He was also a tremendous inspiration to me personally. As a fellow writer for
Concealed Carry Magazine in the early days, Bob was very supportive of me and we exchanged many emails during that time. He was also very helpful in putting me in touch with a couple of publishers and supported my penning my first book, which is almost completed.
Although Bob and I communicated from time to time over the last few years, I never had the opportunity to meet him. I was hoping that would change at the SHOT show in Vegas this year. I will never get the chance now. I will however know that one of the greatest gunwriters of all time enjoyed reading my work. That means the world to me. Rest in Peace Bob Boatman and thank you for your support!
