Supreme Court Second Amendment Case

“Today’s ruling is a victory for freedom and liberty,” said NSSF President Stephen L. Sanetti. “All law-abiding Americans, no matter whether they live in a big city like Chicago or in rural Wyoming, have the same Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms. Constitutional rights don’t stop at state or city borders. Cities like Chicago and New York and states like California must now respect the Second Amendment.”

Heller — in which the high court reaffirmed that the Second Amendment protects an “individual” right to keep and bear arms. The Heller decision, however, did not reach the question of whether the Second Amendment also applied to the states.

Immediately after Heller, several Chicago residents including retired maintenance worker Otis McDonald filed a federal lawsuit challenging the city’s long-standing gun ban. The Chicago-based federal courts ruled that the Second Amendment did not apply to the states and local governments, setting the stage for the Supreme Court to decide the question it left unanswered in its Heller decision.

“Today’s decision marks the beginning of a new era of civil rights litigation as laws and regulations that infringe upon and violate the individual right of law-abiding Americans to keep and bear arms, protected by the Second Amendment, are challenged,” said NSSF Senior Vice President and General Counsel Lawrence G. Keane. “As the trade association for America’s firearms industry, our members make the products through which our Second Amendment rights are realized. Just as the First Amendment protects and shields newspapers and media, the Second Amendment secures constitutional protections for our industry.”

I was so surprised as I went through your sites and recogized him, I was delighted and honored.

I am a Patriot, a Tea Party’er, I believe our govt, under its current leadership is out to destroy our constitution and it’s for that reason that I’m armed and for that reason I own a Glock, .. reliability. Having read some of your stuff, the 2nd Amendment is more important to me than my family and friends can realize and I enjoy reading your stuff. I believe tyranny is upon us and that history may repeat itself, and for that reason, I own a Glock, …and other firearms. It’s a real honor knowing who you are, who your Dad was and I know I hooked up with the best out there.

Sincerely, Bill

not get return emails, so I make a special effort.

I wanted to mention too about the writing style. I love it. None of it sounds “staged” but
spoken from the heart. My Glock 17 is stock factory except for the plug I put in the
spider hole at the bottom of the grip. I’m taking your advice right away, not to do any
major mods to it as it’s my carry gun for protection. I need it to work on time, every time
without worry. I mainly wanted the book to show me how to strip my glock all the way
down, just because I want to know how and for a good cleaning once in a while.

Thanks again, it’s a great piece of work sir. Charles

I have a quick question for you that I’m hoping you can answer for me, I know that peening on the slide rails is normal in a glock, but putting a couple hundred rounds through my new 23, I’m noticing a wear mark on the left side of the slide, right where the end of the barrel mates with the slide (basically opposite of the ejection port). I’m assuming it’s just growing pains and normal, but thought I would double check. Have a good one, and thanks!

Alex,

Good to hear from you. I just stripped my 23 that’s got about a million rounds and, yep, sure enough, there is a little polishing right opposite the ejection port. Never noticed it before. Remember, your slide is Parkerized. That’s the black coating. You are not wearing off the Tenifer treatment. You will also start (if you haven’t already) noticing a polish on the ceiling of the slide from the barrel lug rubbing. Don’t worry, it’s just working the way it’s supposed to.

Hope this helps,

Mr. Boatman,

Just a few questions for you about upkeep for
my Glock 26. In reading the factory manual it
points out cleaning and lubing procedures but
fails to give any info as to the actual brands
or products they recommend. Since the only
solvent I have heard of is (I think) called
Hopps #9 and I also don’t have a brand name
for an acceptable lube oil I was wondering if
you could give me some guidance. Also, there
seems to be some type of ‘copper’ grease in
the slide grooves. I have found YouTube
videos that say to remove it and others say to
replace it after cleaning but they fail to give a
brand name or source.

As this is my first handgun and with it being
made of “plastic” I don’t want to use something
that might attack the “plastic” parts. Can you
give me some guidance in this regard?

Also, I noticed in the front of your “Customize
Glocks” book another book title called “Living With
Glocks” I am inferring by the title that this book
would cover maintenance and cleaning of Glocks.

Is this book still available, and if so, where?

Sincerely,

First off, Living with Glocks is available at www.boatmanbooks.com. But, it does not cover maintenance. It is more of an overview and a journey through the difficult road of Glock’s acceptance as the new standard. It was written by my late father almost 10 years ago.

I use a product called MPro-7. It is basically awesome. It doesn’t smell and cleans incredibly well. For lubrication I use CLP Break Free or Amsoil Synthetic Automotive Engine Oil.

The coppery stuff in your new Glock will wear away or get cleaned away and need not be replaced except with ordinary lubrication.

Hope this helps. Any more questions, I’ll be glad to help out.
