Over the next couple of weeks I’ll be running some Holster Auctions on EBay. These holsters were ordered by my father, Robert Boatman, in 2001 while he was writing Living with Glocks. They are in great shape, but I have no need for so many holsters. They are virtually unused. Most of them had a gun slipped in, a photo taken for the book, and then they were put back into their plastic bag and have been in storage since then.

Top brands like Galco, Don Hume, Blade Tech, Tauris, FIST, Holsters Plus and others, some no longer available from the manufacturers.

If you want a little bit of Glock history and an excellent holster for a great price please bid. If your holster was featured in Living with Glocks, I’ll provide a note that indicates the page number. Of course if you need a copy of Living with Glocks, check out Boatman Books.

To see all my auctions go here, my user name is az-morgan.

Bart

Bart,

My father is definately a bigger-is-better kind of guy, as you pointed out. I am more practical. What counts in a gun fight is hits, not how big the holes are. My father also happens to have grown up on .45 ACP and prefers it because he shoots it better. Many, many people shoot 9mm better. There really is no explanation for why one shoots one caliber better than another, but you must honor it. My perspective is carry what you shoot best. I happen to carry a Glock 23 in .40 S&W. There is great ammo for all calibers. Find one that shoots perfectly in your gun. Check out some shadetree ammo comparison here.

Hope this helps,

Morgan,

I just finished Living with Glocks. Good book, I have to tell you I thought Chapter 20 is where the rubber meets the road. I knew nothing about guns or shooting until November of last year when I thought that should change. I am no longer afraid or ignorant of guns and look forward to shooting each week. It’s my goal to become proficient in my Glock’s use, which is why I’m purchasing this second book.

I have a question if I may. I have applied for a CCW permit for the G19. Is speed or stealth more important on the street? Do I buy an IWB holsters for quick access or a deep conceal holsters like the Smart Carry / Thunderware.

Thanks again

Duane

Duane,

I thought I recognized you! I am glad you enjoyed Living with Glocks. Chapter 20 has started something like a little revolution over the years. (Chapter 20 is online at Iron Word Ranch.)

Everyone who carries a firearm is different. The way you worded the question: “speed or stealth,” is nice. The problem is that it is both not that simple, and not that complicated. The answer to every CCW question I’ve ever come across is this: “The gun you have with you when you need it is better than the gun you don’t have.” This answers the caliber wars 45 vs 9mm. This answers the revolver vs semi-auto war. This answers the speed vs stealth war. What I’m saying is if you find that you like to carry a 44 mag in a shoulder holster or your grandpa’s 32 on your ankle or a shotgun down your left leg, YOU must decide what is best for you. Any carry must be comfortable and convenient or else you won’t do it. I’m not saying it has to give you a back rub and bring you coffee in the morning, but you can’t dread it.

For what it’s worth, I don’t like guns in my underwear.

Thankfully, there are many, many other options.

Hope this helps,

Morgan

Morgan,

That was fast, you are really on top of things. I agree with what you have said. Speed or stealth? I’ll have to look into the options.
