Here’s a letter from a young friend of mine.  I’m not in the habit of publishing personal letters, but with anonymity, I think this letter supplies some good information for new Glock shooters.  He’s about 15 years old and a huge fan of my father’s books.  We’ve met, but never shot together.  As the letter illustrates, every new shooter needs some kind of training to reach his potential.  Just a couple of tips have finally led him in the right direction.  Points that a more experienced shooter might take for granted, he had to discover by accident.  I am glad that he had the fortitude to continue shooting even though he “couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn.”  Most people would have given up long ago.  While I don’t think it is necessary to hold both his arms locked-out, I am gratified that he has taken a step toward correct technique.  It is impossible to progress without some success.  It’s not possible to diagnose a shooting problem when you’re not even hitting the paper yet.  Now he can refine.

His real triumph here is that he showed up.

Hey Morgan today is a memorable day. Well you know all about me getting my glock and everything but ever since i’ve been shooting it i’ve always had accuracy problems and no matter what i’ve done i cant hit the broad side of a barn and that dosent even count the amounts of misfeeds i’ve had!! Once I had 7 misfeeds out of a 10rd mag!!! Then i went to this gun store whose owner we’re friends with and one of his employees recommended that I hold my arms straight out with no bend in them. Well I did this and the misfeeds stopped but my accuracy didnt go up any. So today I was out shooting and all of a sudden my finger slipped so my joint nearest to the pad of my finger covered the little safety thing on the trigger and it felt REALLY good so I started shooting and I shot down all the steel and missed twice and I was SO happy!! So then dad goes out to the 15 yard line and sticks this piece of wood in the ground that is about one ft. tall and 3 inches wide and says shoot it( Id never shot beyond 10yd.) so I get my gun all ready and try my new technique and miss the first shot but then with the second blast the whole thing!!! Thought youd like to know :) :).
